Applying to college can be such a stressful time. I know this well because I have gone through this process with two of my children. My third is a junior, so I have a while to go.

But I can help. I am both a journalist and an educator and my approach will make your children feel confident, strong, and empowered about their voice.

My journalism background goes back years. I was a BBC TV features and documentary-maker in the UK for ten years, a magazine journalist in Europe for two years, and a communications consultant for the British Council at the British Embassy in Washington D.C. for eight years. During that time in D.C., I set up and ran an elementary school newspaper for six years because I wanted to make kids fall in love with writing. When COVID struck, I decided to help out at the Montgomery County Public Schools, and soon found my niche as an English Composition Assistant (writing specialist) at the high school level.

For the last three years at an MCPS high school, I have help set up a Writing Lab focusing on college application essays. During this time, I have worked with over 80 students and have had an amazing time. Energized by this, I decided to set up my own private business for students in my neighborhood – Essay-Success.com.
